Thank you for enquiring about our Introduction Day. We offer this one day of training so you can experience hang gliding in a controlled, fun and hands-on way. We would like to see you enjoy this taste of hang gliding so much that you book in for a 9 day certificate course.
We conduct these days in the following way:-
You will begin the day 10am at Dynamic Flight Park, Trawalla with a little paperwork and a cuppa. The practical session starts with our virtual reality simulator. This simulator allows you to learn the inputs usually applied when at altitude, whilst being supported inches off the ground in a real hang gliding harness. You will be steering the glider and pilot on a screen with a real control frame in your hands. This normally takes us to lunch time. Under cover Bar-B-Q facilities are available at the school bungalow, 800 meters west of the Flight Park, BYO lunch. Beaufort has lots of shops and is a five minute drive west along the highway if needed.
The second part of the day will commence with instruction setting up a glider and harness ready for flight. We will then undertake several 50m runs along a flat field with a training glider, feeling the wing lift you whilst running under your own steam. An instructor will be at your side to prevent any height or directional excursions.
The next step allows you to sample the joy of sustained flight on our Dynamic platform. The aim of this experience is to get you airborne in a glider, relaxed and with the wind in your face. Here you will begin to appreciate the subtle inputs required to guide the glider and the feeling of freedom a weight shift aircraft can afford you. Your instructor will be by your side guiding you through this part of the learning process whilst the aircraft is tethered safely to a moving platform! The day normally concludes around 5pm, depending on numbers.
Our Introductory Day is $180 per person. Weather and time permitting, you may also wish to enjoy a 20 minute flight as a passenger in our Microlight. ($50 extra, pay on the day). We can adjust scheduled dates for groups of three or more. Discounts apply for group bookings, larger discounts for larger groups. Please phone us to arrange group/corporate bookings.
